Années 1940 |
Il commence à jouer en 1942 et obtient son premier engagement important au sein du Junior Dixieland Jazz Band en 1948 avant de rejoindre les International City Dixielanders de Phil Zito. |

Années 1950 |
Après un passage avec les Basin Street Six en 1954, il dirige The Three Coins en 1955. Puis il joue avec les Dukes of Dixieland avec qui il enregistre à Chicago. Il joue ensuite avec Al Hirt et divers musiciens locaux. |

1957 - 1959 |
La célébrité vient grâce à sa participation, avec le chef d'orchestre Lawrence Welk, à une émission de télévision. C'est à cette époque qu'il ouvre son club dans le French Quarter. |

Depuis |
Depuis, Pete Fountain continue de se produire un peu partout aux Etats-Unis, que ce soit à Hollywood, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, et bien sûr New Orleans , sa ville natale. On peut notamment l'entendre dans Goin' Down To New Orleans de Dr. John. |

Pete Fountain, clarinettiste reconnu, est devenu une véritable
institution à New Orleans. Son club, toujours en activité, lui permet de se
produire régulièrement devant un public fidèle. Il fut intronisé au Louisiana Music Hall of Fame en 2008. |
